United Methodist Women

click to enlargeThe United Methodist Women (UMW) is “a community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ”.  The Calvert City Chapter is active in several ways in the local congregation.  Emphasis is on education and mission study.  The UMW go to retreats during the year and participate in all district activities.  Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men (UMM) hold their monthly meetings with programs varying in topics on Christian mission.  The men sometimes share a meal before their meeting.  Our meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00pm.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) is an active group of youth led by committed leaders.  This is the training ground for the forming of relationships and the sharing of experiences in preparation for tomorrow’s church leaders.  The youth take part in several community activities and unusually have several group trips each year.  Our Jr. UMYF is geared toward middle school aged teenagers and meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00pm.  Our Sr. UMYF is for high school aged teenagers and meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.

Children’s Program

In addition to the Sunday School Department, we have a Wednesday evening program of children’s activities, which offers a variety of programs for pre-school thru 5th grade.  We meet at 5:45pm for our “Joyful Noise Makers” hand bell ministry practice, then have a snack and Bible lesson and craft.

Outreach Mission Ministries

The Calvert City United Methodist Church has interests in local, national and global outreach.  It is our tradition to support United Methodist missions in full.  This is a meaningful way in which we reach out as a “connectional” church.

IMAGE014.JPG (44647 bytes)There are many local mission projects which we support:  Christmas food baskets, the Calvert City Ministerial Alliance, Marshall County Caring Needline, Calvert/Sharpe Family Resource Center, recycling ventures and many more.  Both District and Conference missions are supported congregationally and through individual service.

As of October 2006, Calvert UMC has opened a food pantry for the citizens of Marshall County that need assistance called The Open Hearts Food Pantry.  It is open the third Monday of each month from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall of our church.
