As of October 2006, Calvert UMC opened a food pantry for the citizens of Marshall County that need assistance called The Open Hearts Food Pantry. It is open the third Monday of each month from 5:00pm to 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of our church.
Anyone in need is welcome! A hot meal is prepared and served to all patrons while they wait for their take home food order to be packaged and delivered to their car by CCUMC volunteers who are happy to serve. Affiliation with the church is not a requirement. It is our aim to offer Christ to the community by meeting real life needs and this includes feeding the hungry.
If you know someone who could benefit from this program please send them our way. We will welcome them with open arms.
The New to You is a shop run by the fourteen Methodist Churches in Marshall County. It is funded by donations and has a paid staff. From day to day there are volunteers from the different churches, and the volunteers are not always from the Methodist Church's Volunteers are always welcome. A small fee is charged for the clothing and misc. items and if you need assistance we can meet your needs. Calvert Methodist is assigned a work day each month and we need two people to volunteer each month. We work a split shift 8am to noon and from noon to 4pm. This work is very rewarding and is not hard. We are told what is needed to be done. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Lucy Owen, 270-395-7596. We are always needing help.

Supporting local cancer research fundraiser's is a common affair at CCUMC. If there is a Pink Ribbon walk or a Relay for Life event, we will be there!
This is a service CCUMC provides for children in the community. Camp is an after school program that we have done for the past eight years. It is to help children with their homework that need a little extra help. It follows the County School Schedule and is Monday thru Thursday.

Camp Christmas Pagent 2011
In May of 2011 Dave Cobb, an amputee, fell and broke the femur of his amputated leg. He had to have surgery which included having a steel plate installed. This made it impossible for him to wear his artificial leg until the plate could be removed and the leg completely healed. Dave would have to get around on crutches and a wheelchair for several months. Several men from Calvert City United Methodist Church volunteered to build a ramp and deck from Dave's home patio to his workshop, enabling him to get to the workshop via wheelchair or crutches. This also made it easy to get the wheelchair from the house and through the workshop to load it into the car for travel mobility. This greatly improved Dave’s quality of life during this time and he really appreciates the gift these men freely gave to him! Many thanks to Paul Owen, Bob Suttles, Bill Hall (WT), Mitch Steele and Mike Arant. God bless these good men!
